Student’s thread: Christine Weiss
Our society has changed and evolved over the last decade on what is influential in society to one’s personal values. Behavior is the one most influential force that effects a tone for Christians whether it is positive or negative. Unfortunately, behavior has become rude, degrading, and society has lost the ability to love one another like it should be. Ethnicity tends to play a part in society judging, and can be cruel and unjust. Hispanic Americans for example today is known to be workers, and in a group the trouble makers. Sometimes it based solely on the color of one’s color, and people tend to judge quickly. Society should not judge each person based off ethnicity, and tends to be happening more frequently every day.
Behavior today has changed dramatically and in our small town I have noticed the changes overtime, and how people’s behavior has become rude, uncaring, and just do not seem to care anymore. I was out at Lowes a few weeks back and as I was standing in line waiting to pay; I noticed an elderly lady standing by herself waiting for help to load her vehicle. It took me at least 10 minutes to check out, and all I kept thinking was that poor elderly woman waiting in the 90-degree heat. I saw several people walk past her and just do that without offering to help her load her mulch and other items. As I left I went to her and asked her if I could help her load her stuff. She thanked me and said she was getting so hot and tired waiting for a worker to come help her. It took me two minutes to load her items and get her out of the weather, and it broke my heart to see so many people walk past her and not blink an eye. “It is possible that genetic influences are broadly stable across these ages, reflective of an early maturing biological basis to behavioural problems that endures throughout childhood and adolescence” (Lewis & Plomin, 2015, p. 2171). Some of behavioral issues are transparent and spread through each family as well, and can be detrimental to the children exposed to it. I believe that it is important for our children to be raised in a home around God, and teach them to be productive and polite parts of society. New King James Version Proverbs 22:6” Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it”.
Hispanic Americans are an ethnicity group that tend to get judged based off that alone. It is not right and not fair to judge based off one’s ethnicity background. “Cultural mistrust mediated the relationship between racial discrimination and values of education, and perceived limitations of education predicted lower attendance rates for male students but not for female students” (Cooper & Sanchez, 2016, p. 1036). It is easy to look at someone and judge one off the base of their ethnicity, and it is not the right thing to do. Being respectful and treating everyone equally should be something that our children are taught. God wants us to treat each other like we do our spouses and loved ones. My mother is Japanese and I have heard people make fun of her or make comments about her, and it is hard and is hurtful. New King James Version Philippians 2:3” Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself”. No matter what background or ethnicity group we should treat each other better than we do ourselves.
