Final exam
- Choose any onechapter from the book entitled “The Artist in Crisis” and write 250-500 words maximum (essay style and NOT point-form) on what you found to be most important, significant, or interesting in that chapter for your understanding of what music means to you. Do not choose a reading that you may have done for a Presentation and do not duplicate any written material from your final paper or CD assignment. If you do duplicate any material you will receive a zero for that particular answer.
- Choose any one chapter from the book entitled “Making Sense of Music” and write 250-500 words maximum (essay style and NOT point-form) on what is most important and significant in it for your understanding of what music means to you. Do not choose a reading that you may have done for a Presentation and do not duplicate any written material from your final paper or CD assignment. If you do duplicate any material you will receive a zero for that particular answer.
- Choose any FIVEreadings from the following readings below. For each one of the readings that you choose discuss one or more ideas that you found to be of interest to your understanding of music throughout our course (250 to 500 words maximum for each of the readings, essay style and NOT point-form). Everyone must choose “Popular Music and the Intolerant Classroom” as one of their five selections. Do not choose a reading that you may have done for a Presentation and do not duplicate any written material from your final paper or CD assignment. If you do duplicate any material you will receive a zero for that particular answer. (5X 250 or more)

- Explain how Tchaikovsky’s music can be used to teach about tolerance to homosexuality in a senior secondary high school. (250 to 500 words maximum, essay style and NOT point-form).
(For this one you may need to watch some video or article about Tchaikovsky. In class we have watched a video about Tchaikovsky and prof said he is homosexual and his Romeo and Juliet is actually talk about the love about man and man,etc. I may find the name of the video or you may do some research to write this one, thank you)
That’s it! When you have finished the exam you will have written anywhere from a minimum of 2000 words OR 4000 words maximum. Make sure you put your own name, student number and Educ 469 on the very first page of the exam. Please number the pages.
The exam is due no later than 11:59PM on Dec. 18, 2015.
Please remember that university policy dictates that you cannot write to me about the exam during the examination period. The exam has been written as clearly as possible. It is up to you to interpet the questions. I am not allowed to do this for you. It is a fair exam so do please enjoy writing it while also working hard on it!
