For instance, after we have demonstrated to a patient how to perform a task such as giving an insulin injection, we can then have them administer the next one as we watch. In this way, they have demonstrated their knowledge and retention of the information. This also shows that they are physically able to complete the task. You can also have a family member perform the task and be able to recite the signs and symptoms to look for when blood sugar is high or low. The objective must state what you expect the outcome to be. The patient will administer an insulin injection. The family member will recite the signs and symptoms of low/high blood sugar.
