Philosophy
This paper has been given choices to either write a new paper or expand a previous paper. I uploaded two previous papers for selection if the writer choose the second way.
PAPER PROMPT FOR A NEW PAPER:
As technology continues to develop, is there any reason to think the digital divide will increase and that winner-take-all effects will be exacerbated ? Will we see the formation of a permanent lower class? Your answer to these questions will be your thesis for your paper, and you should come up with multiple lines of reasoning to support it. You should then support these lines of reasoning with multiple pieces of evidence. In discussing your thesis, you should also answer these questions in order to support it: what sort of impact will increasing automation have on employment? Does the sort of control we have over robots give us a reason to fear using them in the workplace? Explain your answers fully.

SCAFFOLDING A PREVIOUS PAPER:
If you choose this route, you will be expected to expand one of your previous short papers into the final paper. Don’t think this is always easier than writing a new paper – it depends on your thesis from your short paper and how amenable it is to further argumentation and support. If you didn’t have a thesis for your original paper, that makes that paper ill-suited for the final paper. If you can’t provide several new arguments for your thesis and support them with multiple forms of evidence, don’t use that thesis for the final paper. Instead, you should advance two or three new arguments in support of your thesis that are completely original. You can draw on course material or secondary sources to provide evidence or clarification for these arguments, but if the arguments themselves are simply pulled from those readings expect a poor grade (that, in philosophy, is plagiarism). We’ll spend a class session providing more detail about how to scaffold your paper for those of you who wish to do so.
