I am writing to apply for a nursing program in your institution. I am a lady aged 25 years and I have always had a passion in nursing.
Since my early youth my passion for this profession has developed as a result of the influence I have had from my family members who are in the medical field. My mother who is a nurse has been my role model in this career that I desire to undertake. Since my childhood I have watched my mother grow in this best rewarding profession from one stage to another. I love nursing because it provides the opportunity to serve other people. The focus on the care for sick individuals families and communities to help them attain and maintain optimal health and quality life is my driving force towards this life transforming career.
I have come across different life experiences that required me to be compassionate and offer medical assistance. For example I had to do first aid on my younger sister who had been involved in a small accident while cutting vegetables. She had cut her index finger with the knife she was using. As I was the only person in the house I managed to clean the wound and dress it up before taking her to the nearest health center. I have also learnt the different aspects of life making it easy for me to advise people who are sick to overcome threats that face them such as possible death or disability. Taking care of the sick and comforting the patients has always been my passion. With these experiences I will make a difference in peoples lives every day and help them elevate their morale.
Having worked at Harvey Benovtz Private Practice for four years I have gained a lot of experience. My duties were: providing comfort to the patients administering injections and antibiotics according to the instructions of the doctor updating medical records carrying out therapeutic and diagnostic processes and procedures as instructed. Spending much face-to face time with patients enabled me to have a chance to interact with them and understand the different kinds of issues they face. This gave me much pleasure and more so ensuring that they were comfortable. For the period I was in the institution I helped patients in their recovery and overall well-being. I graduated in 2007 with a medical assistance certificate but did not work until 2008 when I started working with Harvey Benovitz. I recently started working at Mount Sinai Medical Center in December 2012. For the last two months I have been in the Mount Sinai medical center and I have gained a lot of experiences. The center has also increased the passion to pursue nursing. While I have been there I have taken advantage of the many opportunities that have been available for me to learn and acquire the basic skills in nursing.
It is my desire to contribute in succeeding nursing in the institution because I posses different personal qualities. I am a diligent person who is always determined to achieve the best results in everything I do. I am detailing in my work and I always strive to ensure that no stone is left unturned in all that I do. My ability to persevere challenges in life and the sense of humor will help to connect well with patients. The ability to think critically and make informed decisions depending on the situation at hand will help work properly. This is something that nurses do on a daily basis in their career. I will be able to evaluate different situations and apply the appropriate strategies to solve any problems which may occur at the place of work. Such a strategy will help to know the problems affecting the patients from before administering antibiotics.
Since I am used to working under a tight schedule I will manage to deliver the required tasks on time. In addition I can work in shifts and I do not have preferences on the time of the day so that I can work efficiently. Depending on the pressing needs that arise in this career I can work in any place that I may be required to work or transferred. I do not take any information for granted because I am a detailed person. For instance I always keep records of everything I undertake if it will be required to be retrieved in the future. With this capability I will live by the credo of the nursing profession whereby everything done on by or for the patient is documented. Lastly I am a neat and organized person who believes that proper hygiene should the first priority in everybodys life. Therefore I will be able to serve patients who require to be handled with a lot care and in a clean environment.
